St Francis Xavier
The challenge
Our Client is a London college that is passionate about education. They believe that developing effective communication skills is a core requirement which enables their students to develop into mature and fulfilled adults.
The initial brief was to deliver an internal communications channel that would enable their administrative staff to effectively manage formal and informal multi-media communications throughout the site, to an audience constantly on the move.
A clear understanding of the Clients objectives identified three defined uses for the system; to deliver formal communications from the college to the student body & visitors; to provide entertainment and informal communications to student common rooms; and to distribute information from various sources for the adult education programmes during out of hours.
The solution
Plasmanet worked with the college to develop a customised, fully flexible package, which included our unique software and standard user interface. In addition, an on-going remote system support programme was agreed.
Administrative teams and approved users create multi-media slides, using content from various sources, including existing PowerPoint presentations, broadcast TV & live web feeds. Play lists are scheduled and targeted using the secure browser-based interface.
The scheduled play lists automatically change slides at the appropriate times, ensuring relevant content is screened in different areas of the college at the right time.
Additional content can be added to the slides quickly and easily, so news or personal messages about achievements or birthdays, can be added immediately.
The system has been in place since 2005. We are currently discussing with our Client how Plasmanet can be extended to deliver benefits elsewhere within the college.
